The 80's were obviously the golden age of music videos. The rise of MTV coupled with a deluge of talented creatives exploring this new medium made for quite a cornucopia of visual expressions.

I'd love to see this bead explore the good, the bad, and the ugly of 80's music videos. Each of which can be enjoyed for a variety of reasons.

Billy Idol

Billy Idol was one of the great beneficiaries of the advent of the music video era. The video was directed by Poltergeist and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre director Tobe Hooper.

This track was first recorded by Idol's band Generation X and later released as a solo single. The recording features Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones who was wheeled out of the studio on a stretcher after a drug-induced seizure.
