The 80's were obviously the golden age of music videos. The rise of MTV coupled with a deluge of talented creatives exploring this new medium made for quite a cornucopia of visual expressions.

I'd love to see this bead explore the good, the bad, and the ugly of 80's music videos. Each of which can be enjoyed for a variety of reasons.

INXS explodes

Need You Tonight was the first single off 1987's Kick, INXS' 6th album. Non-stop TV video channel play of this and 6 other singles off the album propelled Kick to over 10 million sales globally and made INXS a stadium band.

The video is directed by Richard Lowenstein, who apparently cut up the 35mm film, photocopied it and then layered it back in over the original footage. Need You Tonight is part one, with Mediate being the second half.
