The 80's were obviously the golden age of music videos. The rise of MTV coupled with a deluge of talented creatives exploring this new medium made for quite a cornucopia of visual expressions.

I'd love to see this bead explore the good, the bad, and the ugly of 80's music videos. Each of which can be enjoyed for a variety of reasons.

It was August 1981, the first month of an experiment called MTV, when I made my first foray into the world of music videos via "Love Stinks," apparently the 84th song played in the revolutionary channel's rollout. (In case you were wondering--and didn't already know--The Buggles's "Video Killed the Radio Star" was the first.)

I don't know why, but the opening shot of the drummer in an alley sitting ramrod-straight with just a bass, snare, and cymbal, using fish instead of drumsticks, has always stayed with me.
