i was inspired by Tim's post of Pancho and Lefty to start ruminating on my love for Emmylou. I love lots of her own songs and albums, but what is so astounding about her is the way she can become an active ingredient in the music of others. Her voice has so many gears - from the ethereal haunt you're probably hearing in your mind right now, to lower registers, rich in timbre. My hope in creating this bead is that you folks will help me hear some Emmylou collaborations I'd never heard - or (more likely) songs I love already, but never knew she was on. Solo Emmy is welcome too.

I'll be gone like the wayward wind

My all time favorite Emmylou song, partially for childhood reasons - I can remember this playing constantly in the living room with my mom humming along. This was a bit of a random song choice - it was a recent track on a George Jones record - and highlights a gaggle of covers (Gram, Beatles, Patsy Cline, more Gram) from excellent second solo record, 1975's Elite Hotel; google it for a look at the kick ass album cover.
