i was inspired by Tim's post of Pancho and Lefty to start ruminating on my love for Emmylou. I love lots of her own songs and albums, but what is so astounding about her is the way she can become an active ingredient in the music of others. Her voice has so many gears - from the ethereal haunt you're probably hearing in your mind right now, to lower registers, rich in timbre. My hope in creating this bead is that you folks will help me hear some Emmylou collaborations I'd never heard - or (more likely) songs I love already, but never knew she was on. Solo Emmy is welcome too.

Rah Rah - Duet For Emmylou And The Grievous Angel
Don MacKinnon

It is fashionable to be single in big cities

Loving this record (or at least every other song) by one o' my favorite lil' bands that I go to when I need crunchy catharsis. Might need to put this in *SONGS-OR-ALBUMS-ABOUT-CITIES or *CANADIAN-INDIE just because of the gorgeousness of the lyric:
In Regina
Saskatchewan
I fell in love with her frown

I still curse myself for missing these guys when they played CMJ. I will work to make amends.
