"It all started as a school project between friends on a stormy night in the dorms..." Next thing you know, you're standing in line under the rain with your heart pounding, waiting for the doors to finally open.

That's the bead for the most remarkable bands that were never meant to happen, and the surprising stories behind their tricky beginnings.

Avi Buffalo - What's In It For?
Pamela Talese

Beautiful Flourishing Groove

I found this on the SubPop site and the tune continues to *grow* on me.
The glimmering guitar playing and scruffy vocals, combined with the keyboards, poppy percussion and layered vocal tracks makes for a dreamy Alice&Wonderland-like bloom experience.

According to SubPop: "[Avi] spent the mid-2000s singing quiet yet resolutely sophisticated songs into whatever free programs he could put on his PC...
A solo show at a much-loved vegan restaurant magnetized Avi Buffalo into a full band... engineer Aaron Embry (Elliott Smith and Emmylou Harris sideman, among others) invited Avi Buffalo to help him test out the new studio he’d built in his house. This was the big leap—except for some after-class time at a local recording school, Avi Buffalo had never existed anywhere but a laptop or a really good house party. "

Talent + Chutzbah + Timing= Avi Buffalo. While the video shows many musicians, Avid Buffalo is: Avi Zahner-Isenberg and Sheridan Riley
