"It all started as a school project between friends on a stormy night in the dorms..." Next thing you know, you're standing in line under the rain with your heart pounding, waiting for the doors to finally open.

That's the bead for the most remarkable bands that were never meant to happen, and the surprising stories behind their tricky beginnings.

A tip of the chapeau to Christopher Schelling who luckily insisted that I should create this bead.

They met at their father's funeral

Johnny Van Kappers was a legendary Dutch football player from the 70s. He had two kids from two different women in two different countries. Melody and Anton were born ten years apart, one in Haarlem in the Netherlands and the other in Saint-Etienne in France. They had no idea of each other's existence until their father died. The funeral was obviously bitter, but something sweet was about to happen as they shared their communal passion for music. They were sad to have lost their father, but so happy to have found a family (and a band). This indie-dream-pop-neo-folk duo always cover their faces with hair as a reminder of a lost childhood where they couldn't see each other. #Goosebumps.
