That conchord of sound of keyboards and bellows, is the IT instrument again, if it ever was. More variable in style than stylish to wear, artists of all stripes strap on the squeezebox and make music of many genres: Folk, Zydeco, Retro Rock, Vallenato, Tango, Klezmer, Musette, Gawwali, Forró, Bachata, Balkans Russian Bluegrass, World Busker Punk, and Gypsy Gospel. Give it a squeeze.

french accordion, that is

I heard this today for the first time in maybe a decade - I wish it was David Hidalgo on accordion as I had remembered it (he does sing harmony vocals on another song from this album, and on accordion on a couple of late Dylan records!) - but it's Jo-El Sonnier, who sounds like someone who would play a french accordion, and beautifully...I can remember driving my short lived Vespa from campus down to Tower Records on the morning of street date to buy King of America, after eating cheap the previous week so I could afford to take it out of there in the yellow bag.
