That conchord of sound of keyboards and bellows, is the IT instrument again, if it ever was. More variable in style than stylish to wear, artists of all stripes strap on the squeezebox and make music of many genres: Folk, Zydeco, Retro Rock, Vallenato, Tango, Klezmer, Musette, Gawwali, Forró, Bachata, Balkans Russian Bluegrass, World Busker Punk, and Gypsy Gospel. Give it a squeeze.

ВИА Песняры (Pesnyary) - Вологда (Vologda)
Clayton Black

Where's my dark-eyed love?

In the house with the carved-wooden palisade, that's where. This classic from the Belorussian ensemble "Pesnyary" features not one but two accordians and some pretty nice vocal harmonies. Back in the Soviet era, before it became acceptable to have "rock groups," groups like this were known as "Vocal-Instrumental Ensembles" (hence the ВИА, i.e. V-I E, before the name of the group), and they sang innocuous tunes about love and nature instead of drugs and sex. This performance is from a 1976 New Year's celebration (sort of a New Year's Rockin' Eve Soviet style).
