ANALOG SYNTHESIZERS?

A bead dedicated to music layered with the warm sound of the analog synthesizer. Typically Moog, ARP, Buchla, Serge etc.

Lyres - Don't Give It Up Now

Don't Give It Up Now ~ though they did.

Lyres were a favorite and frequent band in the Pioneer Valley and despite the many times I saw them play, I don't know if Jeff Conolly is playing analog synths or an organ where I seem to have posted a different version of this same song way back in 2012.

This is a better version, and brings to mind the contrast in mood (and MOOG) I witnessed at Brownies in the very late 80s, early 90s when Conolly came to the stage in purple sunglasses and a cloud over his head. We who had come to rock watched as he fiddled with tubes and cords, turned knobs, and scowled continuously. This took about 20 minutes and no one said a thing. Clearly, this was a JOB now, the passion and adrenaline now drained by the drudgery of gigging. His resentment seemed to permeated the entire performance and I don't recall anyone in the room jumping with believable glee. It was a total bummer, frankly, and part of the biz I came to understand.
But for now, enjoy the flashback and the spirit of '79.
