Hello. How are you? This is a bead devoted to architectural design principles, architects, movements, and outstanding home or building design. Feel free to post articles, interviews, talks, documentaries and clips. A few architects whose works I appreciate: Kurosawa Kisho, Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies van der Rohe, Antti Lovag, Paolo Soleri (who designed Arcosanti), Antoni Gaudi, Paul Revere Williams, Le Corbusier, Ant Farm and Zaha Hadid.

Moshe Safdie on his iconic Habitat 67

I like how Safdie views Habitat 67 in terms of LEGOs and how pieces fit together in the LEGO system. The modular units of Habitat 67 are stacked one atop the other, and in rethinking Le Corbusier's idea that "a house is a machine for living" while studying urban American housing, Safdie perhaps felt it was necessary to make an apartment more of a home or destination as opposed to its role as pod of transient living. City life is boring when every building looks the same or like something you've seen before; Safdie wanted to change that. I've always had an appreciation for this structure. It would have been good to see something like it in some American cities.
