With a few songs left on the list that seemed almost tailor-made for the Scottish duo Honeyblood—particularly PJ Harvey’s “O Stella”—we were surprised that they picked Green Day’s bouncy 1994 hit “When I Come Around.” (In fairness, they wanted “Cannonball” by The Breeders, but it had been snatched up just hours before by their friend and tourmate Courtney Barnett.) A pop-punk cover seems a bit incongruous for Honeyblood, whose sound is inspired more by shoegaze than Buzzcocks, but they tackled it with laid-back aplomb.
