La Dispute may be new to Undercover, but it’s no stranger to covers. Last year the band took part in our Pioneering series, where they paid tribute to Nirvana with a rollicking cover of “Polly” at Seattle’s El Corazon. This year, the band stopped by our office to take on Toadies’ alt-rock classic, “Possum Kingdom” from the band’s 1994 album Rubberneck. Though it stays faithful to the original, La Dispute finds ways to inject their sensibilities into it, as vocalist Jordan Dreyer slowly builds the tension until it all explodes in the song’s final chorus.
