Troubled Hubble broke up almost exactly ten years ago, not long after releasing their most fully realized album: 2005’s Making Beds In A Burning House. The Chicago-based band—which was born in Elburn, Illinois—put on legendarily energetic live shows, the perfect vehicle for their slightly skewed pop songs. (Think Modest Mouse and Built To Spill, but with more pep and fewer guitar solos.) The members scattered toward other bands in the ensuing decade, but came back together recently for a few reunion shows, with a couple more on the horizon: October 23 in Dekalb and October 24 in Milwaukee. Here, they invited some extra players—more than doubling in size—to tackle Howard Jones’ totally ‘80s hit “Things Can Only Get Better.” Enjoy.
