Faber & Faber - Shirley Tucker on Berthold Wolpe
Shirley Tucker on Berthold Wolpe
Shirley Tucker worked at Faber as a book cover designer alongside Berthold Wolpe. She joined in the late 1950s and stayed until the 1980s, and she is best-known for her cover of the original 1966 edition of 'The Bell Jar' by Sylvia Plath. Here she talks about Faber's original Art Director and book cover designer extraordinaire, Berthold Wolpe, the man responsible for so many iconic covers, including Robert Lowell's 'For the Union Dead'.
