The Jam - To Be Someone (Didn't We Have A Nice Time)
No more swimming in a guitar shaped pool
Before The Jam famously appropriated the Taxman riff for their hit single, "Start," Weller et al stole it two other times. Once, on a track called "Dreams of Children," which appeared a few months before "Start," and here, on Weller's song about the perils of fame, "To Be Someone," which is the second track on the 1978 album "All Mod Cons." (They sure liked that "Taxman" figure . . .)
