Songs about being famous, the perils of celebrity, the paparazzi, being stalked, appearing on magazine covers, the lack of privacy--songs, in short, about the upsides and downsides of being famous for singing songs.

She only aims to please...

...young celebrities....

This song written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King in 1967 and recorded by the Monkee's that same year, Star Collector exhibits a certain callousness about the phenomenon of groupies.

What makes this song (which would also be at home in Remy Shand's (@Remy) creation SONGS ABOUT GROUPIES) suitable for this fabulous new bead is the focus on FATAL FAME, the corrosion of privacy or personality as a result of over exposure etc.,

Little Davy displays a dismissive attitude toward people:
"Think I'll let her keep on going, wherever it is she's going to / Give her an autograph and tell her 'It's been nice knowing you'"... "It won't take much time / Before I get her off my mind".

But then fans aren't people, are they? They are a devouring mob.
