Songs about being famous, the perils of celebrity, the paparazzi, being stalked, appearing on magazine covers, the lack of privacy--songs, in short, about the upsides and downsides of being famous for singing songs.

Talking crazy on the driver's side

David Mead tells a gorgeous and mournful tale of coming home after the literal and figurative rushes of being on the road. He is savagely underrated as a performer but this song got a boost when Taylor Swift started covering it live a few years ago. And though I won't make it its own discrete post, I will freely admit that she does a credible job.

It slays me when he sings, "Maybe I'm a fast train rolling down a mountain/Watching all my life go by."
