New York Dolls - New York Dolls Documentary
Glam Rock pioneers: New York Dolls
The quintessential American glam rock group. The New York Dolls were an early example of gender performativity, gender fluidity and helped further introduce androgyny as a concept within the context of rock. Aesthetically, they weren't anywhere near as androgynous nor as ostentatious as David Bowie and some other glam rock artists, but they were still VERY glam -- their album cover, with the name of the group spelled out in fuchsia/dark pink-tinted lipstick, skintight getups and war paint is just proof of that. Their very first album is one of my favorite rock albums, actually. This appears to be a fan made documentary, by the way.
