In the middle of March I will join the eminent professor of African American studies, Henry Louis Gates, Jr, for a series of public discussions called American Fault Line: Race and the American Ideal. We’ll explore the rising concerns about racial inequality and violence, how this relates to our history and how we might move forward.
We’ve pulled together a collection of clips from some of our earlier films that deal with race, which we think provide interesting reference points to the discussions we’ll be having. They will be held at SXSW on March 12
, in Washington DC on March 14
and at BAM in Brooklyn on March 16
, the last of which will be streamed live online, so I hope you’ll be able to join us.
Professor Gates next film, Black America Since MLK: And Still I Rise, will air in the fall of 2016 on PBS.
